The Rehoboth Town Council has expressed its commitment to serving the community despite challenges by prioritising road infrastructure, investment, and basic services.

The town, located some 80 kilometres south of Windhoek, has about 70,000 inhabitants. 

Addressing a community meeting aimed at addressing an increase in gang violence in Keetmanshoop, ||Kharas Governor Aletha Frederick called on parents to reflect on the role of raising children. 

Concerned about increasing crime rates driven by gang activities, residents of Keetmanshoop are suggesting a curfew to curb what they describe as a worsening crime situation in the town. 

They made the call during a police community engagement meeting on Thursday.

Preparations for the Guinas Constituency by-election are well on track. 

The by-election, which is slated for Friday next week, has been necessitated by the death of Councillor Elias Marthinus last year.

The chairperson of the Omusati Regional Council Management Committee, Andreas Shintama, has called on staff members to redouble their efforts towards service delivery.

Shintana made the call during this year's official council opening session.
