The Keetmanshoop Town Council elected Councillor Annelize Knaus of the Landless People's Movement (LPM) as the new mayor during today's annual mayoral election. 

Councillor Easter Isaak nominated Knaus for the mayor position, and former Mayor McDonald Hanse seconded the nomination. 

The Namibia Meteorological Service says most parts of the country will continue to experience extremely hot conditions due to the heatwave in South Africa.

Temperatures will rise to more than 40 degrees Celsius.

Residents of Uis in the Erongo Region have occupied the Dâure Daman Traditional Authority office, demanding the removal of their traditional leader, Chief Sagarias Seibeb.

Road fatalities in Kavango West have so far decreased from 14 deaths in 2023 to nine this year.

There has also been a drop in serious injuries, with 27 recorded last year to 25 during the same period.
