Namibia's electricity supply industry has gathered in Windhoek to explore ways of making energy more affordable, reliable and sustainable.

Improved water and sanitation infrastructure at the Opuwo District Hospital is strengthening infection prevention and hygiene, particularly in the paediatric ward. 

The upgrades come as the hospital continues to struggle with staff shortages and pressure on its maternity services.

Vaccine nationalism experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic undermined global solidarity, leaving developing countries at risk, and Africa cautions against a repeat of such actions.

Vice President Lucia Witbooi has called on employers and the private sector to create more inclusive economic opportunities for people with visual impairments, stressing that skills development must translate into employment and sustainable livelihoods.

Namibia has called on the UN to stop the continued denial of the Saharawi people's right to self-determination as decades of stalled efforts leave the future of Western Sahara unresolved.
