2016 Sport Awards shortlist revealed

The 2016 Namibia Sports Awards' shortlist of nominees was revealed at the Namibia Sport Commission today. Chairperson of the panel of judges at this year's Sport Awards, Lesley Tjiueza, today revealed the names of shortlisted athletes who made it to the Sports Awards, which are set for the 28th October in Windhoek. 2015's Sportman of the year boxer Paulus Ambunda alongside Rudolp Woolman for Karate and Mynhardt Kauanivi for Athletics have been shortlisted for Sportman of the year, while Cyclist Vera Adrian, shooter Gaby Ahrens and runner Beata Naigambo have been shortlisted for Sportwoman of the year. According to Tjiueza, the judges are looking for excellence and transparency, “This year we are looking at excellence and transparency and we were very strict with nominations and criterias.” The Namibia Sports Awards are presented annually to deserving sport persons who have attained outstanding achievements and contributed significantly towards Namibia's thrive for sports excellence.
