Athletics Namibia AGM to track progress

ERICKSON TAPISO An annual mandatory gathering of athletic officials and clubs, which contains information about their performance and strategy, will take place this Saturday in Windhoek and is organised by Athletics Namibia. As a non-profit organisation that seeks to enable Namibian athletes to realise their dreams, the upcoming Athletics Namibia AGM also aims to track the progress of the athletes, making sure everything is in line with previous agreements. Head of Athletics Namibia, Erwin Naimhwaka told NBC: “Basically the agenda for the congress is set in the constitution. It is to give or account to our members in term of the activities that happen during the year and also to submit our proposal for activities for the coming season for approval by the members.” The other objective of the AGM is to make sure that the right structures are put in place to meet the expectations of Namibian athletes. “Each region is entitled to nominate representatives to the congress. They may be represented by two persons in some regions, which are not yet full members where there are only clubs representatives ,”Naimhwaka added. He explained that it’s always useful to have this type of meetings because it’s the only way to know “where we are now, where we are going and what we need to make this sport code better for Namibia”. Naimhwaka also explained that Athletics Namibia is an organisation in transition at the moment in term of us developing athletes. The Athletics Namibia AGM will take place at UNAM as of 13h00 this Saturday.
