The second edition of the 2017 Coca Cola Dome Olympics was held over the weekend, with six teams battling it out in a fun and action sport day. The event was established on the basis of allowing companies and the general public to form teams in order to compete in a fun event that incorporates Team Building, Teamwork, the feeling of belonging and the achievement of success by means of completing different obstacle courses. Altogether, there were 10 obstacle course activities, which needed to be completed by four team members. The activities were time based and the team with the fastest time overall won the event. This fun event annually aims to bring people from different cultures and sporting codes together, as well as those not taking part in any sport otherwise. Lance Smith, the organizer of the event, said he was pleased with the outcome of the day, although only a few teams entered. “Despite the fact that other events are on-going, we were lucky to have so many teams here that are committed in doing sport. It is winter time and most people think twice to come out and have a sporting day or activity day,” he added. The Dome is planning to host an Olympic day next year that will include a summer and winter Olympic component, and that will give teams’ sufficient time to prepare.
