Iron Lady Promotions Lauched

A local boxing stable known as “Iron Lady Promotions” has been re-launched in the capital today with the aim to promote raw talent. The stable owned by Anita Tjombe was established in 2011with the aim to give former world champion Harry Simon a chance to emerge victoriously once again. Enabling Simon’s return to glory has, however, been very difficult, according to Tjombe. She decided to give raw talent an opportunity to rise in the boxing ranks instead. “Iron Lady Promotions is here to breach the gap, which the promotions have. There is tremendous talent in Namibia and I believe we need more promoters in the industry to make the boxers to world champions.”Said Tjombe Tjombe believes it’s a new era for her, Iron Lady Promotions and the sport as a whole. Five boxers are already registered with the stable, which includes Namibia’s Olympic Boxer Jonas Junius who is currently in Brazil, Lasarus Shaningwa, Immanuel Shapaka , Johannes Gabriel and the only woman in the team, Martina Tjauha. The boxers will step into the ring on the 29th of next month at Windhoek’s Country Club against opponents who are still to be announced, as nothing has been finalised. “My aim is also to see to that out boxers are taken care of. I want to make it clear that promoters see to it that boxers have medical aid. That’s the first thing I will fight for and the boxing board will agree that every boxer in a stable has medical aid that’s the most important thing.” Said Tjombe Tjombe confirmed that she has already found sponsors for next month’s event but said all this will be announced once the money is in the coffers of the stable. She wants to produce her first African champion within the next six months.
