Jones believes in Welwitschias skills

Welwitschias coach Lyn Jones is confident that the team is earmarked for great things this year, despite opening their Supersport Rugby Challenge on the wrong foot last weekend. Speaking at a press briefing in Windhoek today, Lyn Jones accompanied by JP Nel, briefed the media on what happened in the weekend's opening game's defeat, resulting in 50-33 against Falcons in South Africa. According to Jones, the scoreboard was not a true reflection of what transpired in the 80 minutes of the game as his team was in the thick of things, dominating in many facets which delighted him. "We had a chance to swing the score in our favour, with few minutes left. We believed that we were in for a bonus point, but I am sure of a win the competition" he explained. The Welwitschias will play their second game in the rugby challenge against the Blue Bulls on Saturday - Assistant Coach JP Nel expects a great challenge from the visitors. "We are expecting to play a young team on the weekend, 80% of them will be Varsity players that did well in the Varsity games recently" he said. Kick off time is at three o'clock with tickets available at webtickets.com at 60 Namibia dollars for the grandstands, while 10-30 Namibia dollars are payable for children.
