Junior Sportsman appears unstoppable

At this year's Annual Namibia Sport Awards, sports men and women from the Erongo region scooped three awards in different categories and made an overall good impression - but it was one young man who stood out. Much of the attention at this year's annual sport awards went to a young superstar from Walvisbay: Delano Muller, who was crowned as the Junior Sportman of the year 2016 and stood tall on the night. Delano is the youngest Junior Sportman of the year winner in his category since the Namibia Sport Awards were established 26 years ago. He is only 12 years old. The young sport star is not only a kickboxing miracle but also continues to excel in other sport codes at school, with gymnastics being his second love. At the recently held Namibian Gymnastic qualifying event, Delano was selected for the Namibian team for the Region five competition that will be held in Harare Zimbabwe in December this year. Kickboxing is this young man's number one sport, which he started in 2010. This year he participated in the SWD Classic competition that was held in George, South Africa, and won first place an incredible six times in Point Sparring, Continuous Sparring, Creative Forms, Extreme Kicking, Mixed Martial Arts and Tag Team. He then competed in the Jungle War Seven International competition in Pretoria, South Africa, where he got first place in Continuous and Point Sparring. The Arnold Swarzenegger Classic in Johannesburg, South Africa was his next stop, where he scooped up second place in the under fourteen age group in Sparring. Delano even flew to the USA for the Battle of Atlanta World Championships earlier this year where he won first place in Mixed Martial Arts, and three third places in Continuous Sparring and the Fitness division. Locally, he competed in the inter-club competition and got a third place in the Jiu-Jitsu competition, making him the youngest Jiu-Jutsu fighter in Namibia to date. Delano's parents have supported him in his endeavours and are proud of his achievements
