Mannetti says Brave Warriors to face Comoros as "underdogs"

Brave Warriors coach Ricardo Mannetti said his team will go into their game against Comoros on the 13th of this month as underdogs - a title they might have to keep until Namibia's domestic league kicks off again. Ricardo Mannetti said the fact that they beat Zimbabwe should not automatically mean that they will beat Comoros or any other team in the region. Football, he explained is unlike mathematics and as such they need to treat the Comoros game with a lot of respect. He added that he does not want to make the same mistake Lesotho made a couple of weeks ago when they underestimated Comoros. “We are going to take this game very seriously and we are still aware of the fact that we are the underdogs in terms of we still don't have a league, that only means one thing. We are going to keep working hard and so far, it has worked for us,” he said. He confirmed that the technical team got information on Comoros' way of preparation, as well as their technical approach and added that they can now work on their tactics to face that team. The Namibian camp faced injuries after the Zimbabwe match, but Petrus Shitembi has already been cleared by the doctor and joined the training, while Captain Ronald Ketjijere has been booked off for the week. Ketjijere is expected back in the team next week. The same, however, cannot be said about Benyamin Nenkavu who picked up a knee injury as well as Loid Kazepua, who also got injured in Harare. Despite these challenges, Mannetti is happy with the positive spirit in the camp and continues to work hard to get everyone on the same level, as there are also players who did not play in the COSAFA Cup and the games against Zimbabwe. The coach has been making use of the services of biogenetic Charl Botha, who has been working on the players' strength and conditioning for the past three months. He applauded the fans for their support and for believing in the team. He further called on them to keep on rallying behind the team and fill the stadium to capacity during their return leg.
