The Namibia National Netball Team is set to kick off their Africa Netball World Cup campaign against Uganda on Tuesday. The week-long African Championship, which takes place in Zambia, started today. Namibia will, however, only get active tomorrow as they try to qualify for the 2019 World Cup in Liverpool, England. For Namibia to book one of only two places up for grabs, they will have to beat the likes of Botswana, Kenya, Malawi and Zambia. Last Tuesday at the team's official send-off, the Chief Administrator of the Namibia Sports Commission, Freddy Mwiya, told the team and management to go out there and represent the country as well as to try and qualify for the World Cup. The team left for Zambia on Saturday and already held their first training session. Netball Namibia Vice President Rebecca /Goagoses spoke to NBC Sport from Lusaka and showed herself optimistic about Namibia's chances of placing among the two top teams' who will subsequently qualify for the world cup, joining Malawi and South Africa. They have already booked their places for next year's showpiece. Having recently won the Pent Series, Namibian players are aware of some of the strengths and weaknesses of their opponents. They played against Botswana and Zimbabwe, but according to the coach, Kenya remains much of a mystery as they know nothing about them. After Tuesday's match, Namibia will play Kenya in their second match, followed by their encounter against Zimbabwe on Thursday. In their last two matches, Namibia will come up against Malawi cup on Friday and against Botswana on Saturday.
