WINDHOEK-Namibian striker Peter Shalulile is fighting against time to play against Zambia in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers in September. The South Africa based Highlands Park player is recovering from an ankle injury he suffered while playing for the team. Peter Shalulile was Highlands Park’s top goal scorer in the past season with 15 goals to his name, which help his team to be promoted to the Absa Premiership in South Africa. Shalulile however did not finish the season due to the ankle injury he picked up. The injury has kept the 24 years old out for more than two months and will continued to be side-lined for the new season which started last weekend. The former Tura Magic player was cleared last week to start with light training on his own but not with the rest of the team-mates for at least weeks. “The Recovery is going very well is just unfortunately that am not going to start anytime soon but with god grace I will came back but the recovery is going well” Shalulile said. If everything goes well Shalulile is expected to start with normal training with the rest of the team towards the end of August. His fitness might not be up to speed as Namibia will face Zambia in the first week of September. Shalulile who has scored six times for this country in 25 matches under his belt is confident that the Brave Warriors will do well with or without him against Zambia’s Chipolopolo ”It’s going to be a great game a game that the Namibian Supporters are expecting us to win the guys are preparing very well and think we going to win and with God’s Help we are going to qualify” he added. Shalulile who was given his national debut by Coach Ricardo Mannetti in 2015 has become an integral part of the coach’s football methodology. “I’m not happy Shalulile is a key player of the team, he makes things happen for the team. He missed COSAFA now he will miss this one again” said Mannetti. The man originally from the garden town of Okahandja was not part of this year’s COSAFA Cup team that lost to Zambia in their opening match.
