The death of Namibian sport lover and popular Brave Warriors mascot Robbie Savage has affected Namibians from all walks of life. The late Savage was immersed in Football and supported various local teams, such as African Stars. He was, however, even more famous with his beloved Brave Warriors team. African Stars team manager Lesley Kozonguizi said Robbie was like a 12th player of his team. “My experience with Robbie is that he was committed to the team. He motivated the team to do better and even uplift the morale of the supporters when the team lost,” he explained. Veteran sports journalist Carlos Kambaekwa described the passing of Robbie as a huge loss to the local sport fraternity. “It is very sad news for Namibian sport. Robbie was an easy-going person. He mingled with people from all walks of life. His departure is sad news,” he said. In honour of the late Savage, the Brave Warriors team paid a visit to his family residence in Khomasdal, where they donated N$10 000 towards his funeral. Kiriata Kamanya of Salute Boxing Academy also pledged N$10 000 at the occasion. Black Africa's Cassius Moeti said he will urge all NPL teams to observe a minute of silence in honour of Robbie's legacy when the league kicks-off again. Robbie Savage will be laid to rest on 29th May 2017.
