The Namibian side qualified for the World Rugby under 20 Trophy back in March of this year after beating Kenya 37-18 in the final of the African Qualifiers tournament. The boys have since been released to their clubs and schools for the rest of the rugby season, but were called up to attend a training camp this week at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek. They have been putting together their game plan before their departure to Romania today. The Head Coach of the under 20 national side is none other than Henry Kemp, the WHS under 19 super league coach, whose team ended in third position at this year’s schools competition. Kemp is confident after the last few days of training with the team. In an interview with NBC Sport Kemp said: “I am quite excited, most of the guys here I have coached at schools level and it is nice to work with the new guys and seeing all of them come together”. The Namibian side was drawn into Pool A of the competition and will face hosts Romania, Hong Kong and Samoa, with Samoa and Romania considered to be very physical sides, while Hong Kong is expected to run with the ball a lot more. “ If you look at Hong Kong, they will probably play like the Sunwolves. The issue with Romania and Samoa is that they have big physical unites and they will make us tackle for a full 80 minutes. Hopefully we can manage that “. Kemp explained. Namibia will play their first game next week Tuesday against Romania, followed by encounters against Hong Kong and Samoa on the 1st and 5th of September respectively.
