Ushona to fight for WBF world title

Bethuel Tyson Uushona has been granted a second opportunity to contend for a vacant WBF welterweight title, following a controversial fight against Dennis Ilbay last year. WBF has declared the title vacant after Ilbay allegedly stated that he is not prepared to comply with WBF’s order to fight Ushona again. Salute academy was suspended by the boxing control board, following reports that a boxing bonanza hosted last year had turned nasty. Salute’s chairman allegedly conducted himself in a “violent and reprehensible manner” at the event. In an email sent by the WBF to the academy, it was revealed that the federation has now granted Uushona an opportunity to contest the now vacant WBF world welterweight title against an opponent who is yet to be announced. The Chairman of Salute Boxing Academy, Kiriata Kamanya says he is pleased that the academy was granted the opportunity to host the contest again. "Who’s going to be in the bout, part of this fight is Tyson Uushona, who will be fighting for the WBF title. In this title, we request the executive committee of WBF, to review the decision that was made in Walvis Bay" said Kamanya The vice president of the International Boxing Federation, Simon Andjamba, says he is also glad to see Salute Boxing Academy striking back after their suspension. "Salute is one of the boxing promotions which is actually supporting us an IBF and therefore I’m very happy to see them again and I also want to congratulate the Namibia Control Board to give them their license back"said Andjamba
