Warriors hit by injuries ahead of Zambia clash

Windhoek- Brave Warriors Coach Ricardo Mannetti is concerned about injuries affecting his players ahead of their 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier match against Zambia in September. NBC Sport reported last week that Highlands Park striker Peter Shalulile's participation in the Zambia encounter is doubtful at best. According to Brave Warriors Coach Ricardo Mannetti, it is now clear that Shalulile won't be present against Zambia. But he might not be the only one missing in action. Also on the injury's roster is the reigning Namibia Premier League top goal scorer Panduleni Nekundi, who has not been part of the training squad in the first two weeks due to a groin injury. Despite Nekundi's return to training this week, Mannetti is not sure of his availability since the injury is chronic. Another player on the injury list is the team's prolific striker Henrik Somaeb. “He have not train last week, because he is has a muscle injury that have been troubling him for quite a while now and we will see how it will go, but it does not look too serious” Mannetti said. According to Mannetti, both Somaeb and Nekundi are expected to recover ahead of the match but it is very risky to utilize them at the moment nonetheless. Most of the injuries have hit the striking force and the Warriors coach has started thinking about plan B already to rescue the situation. “We need to change our approached to the game if it comes to that. What was supposed to be plan B will became plan A I have no choice if the players does not recover on time” he added. With the Namibia Premier League expected to start late in September, Mannetti is currently relying on his foreign-based players. This, however, also comes with its issues as Kaizer Chiefs Goalkeeper Virgil Vries - who has been the most active of the country's top four goalkeepers - was reported on his Club's Twitter page to be out for two weeks after injuring himself in the MTN Cup victory over Free State Stars last weekend. Time will tell who will be available for the crucial upcoming encounter.
