Today marks Venezuela's 215th Independence Day.

Religious denominations, led by Pastor Marson Sharpley of No Walls Apostolic House of God, gathered in Windhoek to pray for those who lost their lives in the Venezuela earthquake and for their bereaved families.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has expressed Namibia’s sympathy and solidarity with the government and people of Venezuela following the recent devastating earthquakes.

Volunteers in Caracas rushed into the streets on Thursday after a fresh aftershock rattled the Venezuelan capital to help the victims of the powerful earthquakes that struck the country earlier this day.

President Hage Geingob has sent condolence messages to the Presidents of Türkiye Tayyip Erdogan and of Syria Bashar Al-Assad following the deadly earthquakes that hit the two countries on Monday. 

The earthquake left thousands dead and many injured.
