MPs advocate for global peace


Members of Parliament in the National Assembly have voiced support for global solidarity, introducing motions affirming solidarity with Cuba, Palestine, and the decolonisation of Western Sahara.

Swapo Party MP Leevi Katoma moved a motion expressing unwavering solidarity with Cuba, highlighting the historical ties between Namibia and Cuba. 

For years, Namibia disapproved of the United States' economic blockade against Cuba.

Namibia supports China's peace plan for Russia and Ukraine


Namibia supports China's 12-point peace plan for Russia and Ukraine as part of the Global Security Initiative concept paper.

President Hage Geingob said this in his message of congratulations to his counterpart, Xi Jinping, on his re-election as President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission last week.

The 69-year-old President Xi was voted in unopposed by nearly 3,000 delegates to the Chinese National People's Congress last week, securing a third term.
