The Ondangwa Town Council is facing a significant housing backlog, with the combined waiting list for formal and informal land exceeding 8,100 applicants.

People who were affected by flash floods on December 27th from the Orutjandja location in the Opuwo Urban constituency of the Kunene Region have been relocated to the Opuwo open market and provided with ablution facilities and water.

By December 2027, the National Housing Enterprise (NHE) plans to complete the construction of 546 housing units at Katima Mulilo.

The project is expected to address the housing backlog while providing affordable housing. 

Land allocation countrywide will be distributed through three proposed models: high, moderate, and low economic values. 

These models or criteria are contained in the National Resettlement Policy of 2023 under review.

Residents of Omaruru in the Erongo Region have petitioned the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Erastus Uutoni, after accusing the councillors of having snubbed their demonstration in which they questioned the town's stagnant development, increasing debts, and lack of job opportunities.

Members of the Nalitungwe Community Savings Foundation have become new landowners at Farm 37 on the outskirts of Walvis Bay.

The municipality has allocated them portion 12, which will need to be serviced. 

Members of the Walvis Bay Backyard Tenants Association celebrated councils' approval to grant a large portion of land at Farm 37 to its members.

Farm 37 is an area on the outskirts of the harbour town, identified in 2015 as a solution to the towns' land and housing demands.

LPM has maintained its stance to pre-allocate land to landless Namibians, saying it's the only solution to the housing problem in the country.

Land delivery in Namibia requires a multi-faceted approach to ensure that every citizen has a place to build a roof over their heads.
