Parents in Windhoek flocked to a local school in Havana in hopes of securing spots for their children in Pre-Primary and Grade 1 classes for the year 2027; however, many have had little to no success.
The directorate of education in |Khomas Region has commenced the school placement process for 2027.
Regional Director Paulus Nghikembua says parents seeking school placement for pre-primary, grade one and eight for next year have up to 1st July 2026 to do so.
The Swakopmund Circuit Inspector, Chris Eixab, says although most learners have been placed in schools, placement challenges persist in Grades 1 and 8 due to the growing number of families relocating to the coastal town.
The placement of first-grade learners at Windhoek is becoming a serious concern as schools have a limited number of spaces available for enrollment. The school management at Faith Primary School informed parents that it could accommodate only 55 learners.
