The directorate of education in |Khomas Region has commenced the school placement process for 2027.

Regional Director Paulus Nghikembua says parents seeking school placement for pre-primary, grade one and eight for next year have up to 1st July 2026 to do so.

Speaking at a media briefing, Nghikembua said the decision has been taken to ensure that the process is conducted in an orderly, fair and transparent manner.

Nghikembua further encouraged parents to apply to more than one school, stressing that the ministry does not wish to leave any child behind.

In view of the growing demand for places as a result of the growing population, the director announced the addition of seven new schools to the already 142 existing schools in the |Khomas region.

"The Khomas directorate is engaging now, between the 1st of June and the 12th of June, in campaigns. That is through the different media, including NBC, of course, and then we expect now from the 15th of June to the 30th of June for parents to approach different schools to give in applications for the learners, and then by the 1st of July that's the last day for the application handling."

Nghikembua also said learners who will not be admitted in the first phase will be placed and assisted under the Regional Placement Committee.
He reassured the public of the ministry's commitment to ensure every learner has access to education in a manner that upholds fairness, dignity and equal opportunity for all.
