Farmers at the Hardap Irrigation Scheme have asked NamWater to restore water supply to their irrigation fields, as the Hardap Dam received water inflow following rains in its catchment areas. 

Addressing a community meeting aimed at addressing an increase in gang violence in Keetmanshoop, ||Kharas Governor Aletha Frederick called on parents to reflect on the role of raising children. 

Concerned about increasing crime rates driven by gang activities, residents of Keetmanshoop are suggesting a curfew to curb what they describe as a worsening crime situation in the town. 

They made the call during a police community engagement meeting on Thursday.

Long-standing plans to establish a satellite police station in Keetmanshoop's Tseiblaagte residential area are on track. 

The ||Kharas Police Regional Commander, Commissioner Marius Katamila, revealed this in an interview with nbc News. 

Droves of Keetmanshoop residents have gone on social media, expressing concern over the alleged spiralling of crime fuelled by gangsterism in the town. 

They attribute the worsening crime situation since the start of the festive season, which includes two murders, to a lack of police visibility. 

People have already started to leave towns for the festive holiday, and minibus taxi operators at Keetmanshoop are unable to meet the high demand of commuters.

Statistics released by the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) showed that the country's agricultural production slumped by 57% in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the same quarter last year.

Namibia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) shows growth of 2.8% in the third quarter of the year, up from 2.7% in the previous quarter.

The Keetmanshoop Town Council elected Councillor Annelize Knaus of the Landless People's Movement (LPM) as the new mayor during today's annual mayoral election. 

Councillor Easter Isaak nominated Knaus for the mayor position, and former Mayor McDonald Hanse seconded the nomination.
