President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has expressed confidence following her participation in the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Tanzania's Vice-President Deogratius Ndejembi criticised states imposing unilateral sanctions on other countries, warning at the UN General Assembly that such measures undermine sovereignty and peaceful coexistence.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will use Namibia’s participation in the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81) to call for renewed commitment to multilateralism, dialogue and the peaceful resolution of international disputes.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will deliver Namibia’s national statement at the United Nations General Assembly on 23 September, using the platform to advance the country’s priorities on peace and security, economic transformation, climate resilience, and youth empowerment.

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) is set to vote for the 32nd time on a draft resolution calling for an end to the U.S. embargo against Cuba, referred to by the island country as a blockade, which restricts international business and imposes economic sanctions on anyone trading with Cuba. 

The President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) encouraged Namibians to go out in numbers, exercise their constitutional rights, and register to vote in the November elections.

President Mbumba says King Phillipe's visit will present Namibia and Belgium with an excellent opportunity to deepen the strong bonds of friendship and growing bilateral relations the two countries enjoy.

President Hage Geingob has departed for New York, United States, to participate in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly and is expected to address the Assembly next Wednesday.
