Stakeholders in the Erongo Region have welcomed the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism's (MEFT) efforts to consult widely on the review of the National Tourism Policy.

The Chief Tourism Officer at MEFT, Frans Helao, explained that the review of the policy is aimed at expanding its relevance.

MEFT EARNS OVER N$180M FROM TROPHY HUNTING

The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism has made over N$ 160 million from trophy hunting through joint venture tourism and over 20 million through conservancies.

Daniel highlighted that the trophy hunting is done in a sustainable manner and under the regulatory framework.

The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism has commissioned a consultancy team to develop a National Tourism Spatial Development Master Plan for Namibia.

The consultants began their first engagement in the Otjozondjupa Region, with visits to other regions set to follow.
