MP Mootu tables motion to obligate government to support entrepreneurs

Landless People's Movement (LPM) Member of Parliament, Utaara Mootu, has tabled a motion in the National Assembly urging prompt transparency and accountability from the government regarding its obligations in bolstering financial support for established and new entrepreneurs.

Mootu's motion seeks a detailed report from relevant government agencies on the spending, outcomes, and effectiveness of initiatives supporting youth entrepreneurship.

Genocide Remembrance Day met with mixed feeling

The Ovaherero and Nama people held a march from UN Plaza in Soweto to the Independence Memorial Museum in Windhoek in memory of the genocide of the 1904–1907 wars of extermination.

About 300 people gathered at the museum, where the official announcement of Genocide Remembrance Day as a public holiday from 2025 on was made by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Prof. Peter Katjavivi.

The declaration of Genocide Remembrance Day is not just a symbolic act; it signifies the beginning of an important journey of healing, reconciliation, and education.

28 May proclaimed Genocide Remembrance Day

The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, has announced that Cabinet has resolved to proclaim May 28 as Genocide Remembrance Day.

National Assembly Speaker Prof. Peter Katjavivi credited the late Dr. Kuaima Riruako and Usutuaije Maamberua for tabling motions in Parliament, which paved the way for this important announcement.

The ongoing issue of genocide and its implications, particularly regarding German authorities, has been a significant concern for the nation.
