The number of registered voters has passed the one million mark, with the latest statistics on the General Registration of Voters (GRV) indicating a cumulative 1,153,916 registered voters as of July 20.

The Landless People’s Movement (LPM) has expressed concern over the low turnout for the general registration of voters (GRV) nationwide. 

The party urges the public to register for voter cards to participate in the upcoming November elections.

ECN concerned about low turnout at registration points

Of the 1,731,790 Namibians eligible to vote, less than 50% (823,761) have so far registered at the different registration points across the country and at the various registration points at all Namibian diplomatic missions abroad since the start of the General Registration of Voters (GRV) on June 3 to July 6.

ECN concerned about low turnout of eligible voters

The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) is concerned about the low turnout at registration points countrywide.

So far, only 823,761 Namibians have registered to take part in the November 27 elections. The figure represents an average of 24,562 registered voters per day.
