Plakerskamp residents demand streetlights

Residents of Plakerskamp, a township in Karasburg, have raised concerns over a lack of basic services in their area, as well as increasing instances of crime. 

The area has no proper streetlights, leaving residents feeling unsafe and vulnerable, particularly at night.

Road fatalities in Kavango West decrease

Road fatalities in Kavango West have so far decreased from 14 deaths in 2023 to nine this year.

There has also been a drop in serious injuries, with 27 recorded last year to 25 during the same period.

VP Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah advocates for public-private partnerships

The Vice President of Namibia, Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, says the acceleration of the country's developmental agenda can be attained at a fast pace through public-private partnerships. 

She made these remarks during the inauguration of the Onawa police station in the Oshana Region.

Some residents delay electrification efforts

The unwillingness of Windhoek's informal settlement residents to sign lease agreements with the city has delayed the completion of electrification projects.

Windhoek Mayor, Queen Kamati, revealed this during the council meeting. 

Erongo Police report success during recent operations

The Erongo Police will continue their special operations to arrest drug dealers, thieves, and other criminals terrorising Swakopmund residents.

Chief Inspector Iileni Shapumba says recent operations in this regard have yielded success.
