Road fatalities up 20% as festive season deaths rise

Namibia recorded 488 road fatalities between 01 January and 14 December 2025, representing a 20% increase compared to the same period last year.

3,126 crashes were recorded, a 4.2% increase compared to the previous year. However, 5,111 injuries were reported, marking a 1.8% decline.

99 die in road crashes this year

The latest police figures indicate that 99 people have died on Namibia's roads between January and the 23rd of March.

Head of NamPol's Traffic Law Enforcement, Commissioner Petrus Swartz, said 632 accidents caused injury to 1,018 people.

Road safety campaign launched in Windhoek

The Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund, in collaboration with the National Road Safety Council (NRSC), the Roads Authority (RA), and traffic officers from the Namibian and City Police, launched a week-long road safety campaign in Windhoek.
