The National Planning Commission (NPC) hosted a workshop where Director General Kaire Mbuende said the Climate Investment Funds Industrial Decarbonisation Programme could help accelerate Namibia's economic diversification under the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6).

Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy, Modestus Amutse, says the green hydrogen programme falls within Vision 2030 and the Sixth National Development Plan, with a clear objective to transition Namibia from a primary commodity exporter to a diversified, industrialised economy.

China's Ambassador to Namibia, Zhao Weiping, said Beijing supports Namibia's efforts to develop its manufacturing sector and increase local value addition.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Zhao noted that Chinese investments do not only focus on resource extraction.

President Nangolo Mbumba has announced that Namibia has reached a significant milestone in its journey towards sustainable growth, aligning with the country's vision for industrialisation, economic diversification, and job creation. 

China and Namibia are co-hosting a business networking platform to celebrate the development of business partnerships between local and Chinese investors and enterprises operating in Namibia.

The country's rich abundance of resources has created vast investment opportunities.
