The Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of South Africa, Puleng LenkaBula, is visiting the site of the first Africa Millimetre Telescope (AMT) on Gamsberg Mountain in Namibia this week.

Namibia, with its clear skies and ideal conditions for astronomy, has been positioning itself as a growing hub for space science research. 

Questions, however, remain about whether the country is doing enough to inspire young people to pursue careers in space science. 

This month, many countries around the world will witness a rare astronomical event known as planetary alignment or the planetary parade.
