The Keetmanshoop mayor, Francis Swartbooi, has requested the local Magistrates' Court to disregard as inadmissible the evidence in a drunk-driving case against her.

Five accused out of the 11 suspects arrested over the alleged assault of a 58-year-old male teacher during a land dispute appeared before Magistrate Laina Namboga at the Katima Mulilo Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.

They were granted bail of N$2,000 each.

Documents that remain outstanding have again delayed the bail hearing of brothers George and Bino Cloete in the Keetmanshoop Magistrates Court. 

Concerned community members of Oranjemund on Friday protested at the Magistrates Court, opposing the granting of bail to a father who allegedly raped his 14-year-old daughter since she was 8. 

A senior official from the Ministry of Fisheries and three other suspects appeared in court for alleged fraud, forgery, and money laundering at Walvis Bay.
