The country's defence budget vote, amounting to N$7.5 billion, has been approved in the National Assembly and will now be reviewed by the National Council.

The National Assembly has approved a N$535 million budget for the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) for the 2026/2027 financial year, though several MPs raised alarms over reduced funding for the Disaster Risk Management Programme.

Members of Parliament are continuing the budget debate, which commenced this week under the committee stage.

Debates range from a number of items on the order paper where MPs shared their views on how they feel funds should be utilised.

The Kavango West Regional Development Coordinating Committee has concluded its deliberations on the budget allocation of close to N$400 million for the 2025/2026 financial year.
