The construction of the N$220 million Buchter Village Mall at Lüderitz is set to begin, following the official site hand-over to the contractor Africade this week.

Numerous establishments have been found in violation of the Labour Act during the oversight visit by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Poverty Eradication, Labour and Industrial Relations, particularly focused on the retail and wholesale sector in the Zambezi region.

Most retail outlets in the Ohangwena Region are in breach of the Labour Act, particularly the national minimum wage regulations.

This emerged during an oversight visit by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Poverty Eradication, Labour and Industrial Relations.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah hailed the new Goreangab Mall as a major investment for the country and a step towards reversing the legacy of exclusion and bringing opportunities closer to the people. 

The president made the remarks when she officially opened the newly constructed mall.
