Omaruru Namibia's first fully municipally recognized town since 1909

Omaruru was the first town in Namibia to receive full municipal status in 1909, with the first municipal office building erected in 1926.

The council moved to the present building in the 1980s, which was the first government school and hostel, opened in 1912.

UNESCO to launch safer campuses campaign against GBV at universities

UNESCO will launch a Safer Campuses campaign aimed at creating awareness about gender-based violence (GBV) at universities. 

The campaign will use various elements and channels to encourage students to break the silence and take action against GBV.

Mbakera was speaking during the National Planning Commission's visit to the Otjozondjupa Region.

Misinformation has allegedly created the perception that there is currently a hazardous, radioactive storage facility at Swakopmund.

Municipality Chief Executive Officer Archie Benjamin says the council has not given approval to anyone to set up the facility as public consultations are ongoing.
