Russia is capable of replacing the Ukrainian grain, both on a commercial and free-of-charge basis, especially as it expects another record harvest this year.

This assurance was given by President Vladimir Putin, who stressed that Russia will continue its energetic efforts to provide supplies of grain, food products, fertilisers, and other goods to Africa despite the sanctions imposed by the West.

Putin addressed the Plenary session of the 2nd Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum underway in St. Petersburg.

Botswana DIS issues statement on Mmegi invasion

Director of Public Relations for the Botswana Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS), Edward Robert, has issued a statement after the DIS allegedly invaded the offices of a leading newspaper, Mmegi, on Thursday last week and took in its editor and a reporter for questioning.

 

The editor, Ryder Gabathuse, and reporter, Innocent Selatlhwa, were taken from the newspaper's offices hours before the deadline by a security detail.

 

Robert informed nbc News that the duo were taken in for questioning by the DIS and released the same day.

 

African First Ladies enhance advocacy campaign

President Geingob sends messages of condolence to quake-hit Turkey and Syria

President Hage Geingob has sent condolence messages to the Presidents of Türkiye Tayyip Erdogan and of Syria Bashar Al-Assad following the deadly earthquakes that hit the two countries on Monday. 

The earthquake left thousands dead and many injured.

Dr. Geingob send his support and solidarity to the bereaved families, in the wake of the tragedy, that not only claimed lives but also caused destruction to infrastructure in both countries.

The World Health Organisation estimates the death toll could reach 20 000.

The call was made at a media conference, which was held on the sidelines of the just-ended SADC Troika Summit in Windhoek.

The Kingdom of Eswatini has witnessed an intense uprising in recent years, a severe revolt since the abolishment of the multi-party system in the 1970s.
