The rights of people with disabilities took centre stage in Otjiwarongo as the National Disability Council of Namibia hosts a two-day stakeholder education and awareness training.
In an attempt to meet the basic services to the growing population of Otjiwarongo, the council has availed a large chuck of its budget to address infrastructure development and economic activities.
The Omake Charity Organisation hosted a community outreach event for underprivileged children in Otjiwarongo, where children took part in games and dancing activities.
More than 60 children attended the initiative, which also included meals prepared by David United Class Academy.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) convened a regional consultative workshop in Otjiwarongo to gather stakeholder input for Namibia’s Third National Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan (2026-2030).
ACC Director-General Paulus Noa emphasized the incompatibility of good governance and corruption:
A group of unemployed young men in Otjiwarongo has taken it upon themselves to address road maintenance by filling potholes, aiming to enhance road safety within their community.

The Otjozondjupa Region hosted a memorial service for the late parliamentarian James Uerikua and his son, Venturo Uerikua, on Saturday in Otjiwarongo.
The service provided an opportunity for residents to bid farewell to their former governor.
The former Otjiwarongo mayor, Gottlieb Shivute, said the late James Uerikua played a significant role in grooming, mentoring and shaping him into leadership.
Shivute said all he is left with now are photographs of a man with whom he shared both a political working relationship and a personal friendship.
Member of Parliament, James Uerikua has died.
Uerikua died this afternoon in a car accident on the road between Otjiwarongo and Okakarara.
Police confirmed the death of the former governor of Otjozomdjupa Uerikua.
Miss Namibia 2025, Johanna Swartbooi, made a special appearance to officially open the runway and inspire a new generation of aspiring models at the Otjiwarongo Circuit Girls Club beauty contest.
