Rosh Pinah career fair described a success

A Career Fair at Rosh Pinah, aimed at providing opportunities to learners and the youth at the mining town to help them make informed decisions about career choices, was described as a success.

The event is a collaborative effort between RoshSkor Township, schools in Rosh Pinah, and institutions of higher learning.

Professionals and lecturers from UNAM and NUST engaged learners on their current career choices, while learners had the opportunity to pose questions during the one-day mini-career fair.

UNAM intends to industrialise

The University of Namibia is positioning itself to become a key contributor to Namibia's vision of industrialization by 2030.The institution's NeuDamm Campus has since introduced programmes aimed at matching the skills required for industrialization.

As part of its contribution to industrialization, UNAM's veterinary academic hospital takes the students through a chain of comprehensive scientific and practical work with a variety of species and inspects meat products to see if they are safe for human consumption.

UNAM students encouraged to be tolerant towards other cultures

Eiseb, who made the remarks during the opening of the annual UNAM Cultural Festival at Keetmanshoop, says that the event aims to foster unity and promote good cultural practises and traditional values that should be emulated by all.

UNAM launches N$65 million solar energy plant

In a milestone achievement for the University of Namibia and marking the beginning of a new era in local energy production, the educational institute has seen the launch of a N$65 million solar energy plant.

Built by Inceptus Holdings in collaboration with Alensy Holdings, the initiative is projected to supply electricity to Windhoek, at 40% of the current cost charged by utilities.

The solar plant project will help reduce UNAM's carbon footprint and contribute to the institution's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

NCS,UNAM launches potato seed multiplication programme

The Namibian Correctional Service (NCS) and the University of Namibia (UNAM) have launched a potato seed multiplication and wheat seed planting programme for sustainable food production at the Evaristus Shikongo Correctional Facility outside Tsumeb.

This follows the signing of an agreement between the two entities.

UNAM, in collaboration with the Namibia Agronomy Board, has embarked on the Seed Research Project with the objective of making the country seed and food secure.

Professor Matengu says palliative care is important and valuable

The University of Namibia's Vice Chancellor, Professor Kenneth Matengu, said palliative care is an important and valuable aspect of healthcare.

Professor Matengu emphasised this at the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding with the Hope Home-Based Healthcare Service and Dr. Jeketera-Khumalo Surgery.

Palliative care is specialised medical care for people living with a serious illness, such as cancer or heart failure.
