President Geingob urges diplomats to defend country against attacks

Namibian diplomats have a responsibility to defend their country and citizens against attacks and further negotiate better agreements that will impact the quality of life.

President Hage Geingob read the riot act to the country's Heads of Mission and Honorary Consuls when he opened the 9th session of the Heads of Mission Conference in Windhoek.

The Heads of Mission Conference is taking place at a time when there is a demand for fair multilateralism, equal partnerships, and changing geopolitics.

President Geingob leaves for Belgium tomorow

President Hage Geingob leaves for Brussels, Belgium, tomorrow for the European Union Inaugural Global Gateway Forum and the first EU-Namibia Green Hydrogen and Critical Raw Materials Business Forum.

Dr. Geingob will attend at the invitation of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

In recognition of Namibia's leadership in the transition to cleaner sources of energy, President Geingob will deliver the keynote statement during the Leaders' Session on "Green Energy Transition and Green Hydrogen".

Oil, Gas, Green Hydrogen and Education top priority areas for new Heads of Mission

President Hage Geingob says that to advance African economies and meet the plight of the people, a healthy and robust energy mix is required.

Dr. Geingob addressed the Africa Energy Week conference underway in Cape Town, South Africa, where he explained Namibia's plans to industrialise using both its renewable and non-renewable sources. Namibia and a number of African countries are signatories to international conventions advocating for clean energy transition, and more than ever, calls have been loud to honour the 2015 Paris Agreement.

NamPort equipped to accommodate green hydrogen industry - Kanime

The Namibia Ports Authority (NAMPORT) will need to ensure that it has the appropriate infrastructure to accommodate the green hydrogen industry.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Kanime, says the ports have ample land and cargo capacity, and the fuel jetty is sufficient to enable the export of green hydrogen through Walvis Bay.

The Namport CEO made the remarks when President Hage Geingob visited the Green Hydrogen Valley at the coast this week.

Bi-National Commission meeting to convene Thursday

President Hage Geingob will host his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa, for the Bi-National Commission meeting starting on Thursday.This will be the third session between the neighbouring countries.

A bi-national commission (BNC) is typically a platform in international relations where the meetings of the two states are held at the highest levels, including between the heads of state.

This means that matters are accorded the highest priority with Heads of State to give guidance and implementation direction on the bilateral relations of the two countries.

President Geingob visits Namibia's first green hydrogen plant

President Hage Geingob has visited Namibia's first state-of-the-art green hydrogen plant, refuelling station, and hydrogen academy at Walvis Bay.

Dr. Geingob arrived at the N$4 billion facility, located a few kilometres from the Walvis Bay International Airport.

The initiative is a joint venture between local companies Ohlthaver and List (O&L) Group and Belgium's CMBT Tech.

O&L Group Director for Innovation, Eike Krafft, explained to the president that construction has started following a groundbreaking ceremony last week.

President Geingob congratulates Bishop Dumeni

President Hage Geingob has extended well wishes, good health, and strength for clergyman Kleopas Dumeni on his birthday.

Bishop Dumeni turned 94 today.

The president described him as a person who has dedicated his life to the service of Namibians and the region.

Dr. Geingob remembers Bishop Dumeni as a steadfast supporter during Namibia's struggle for freedom.

He says their meetings in exile demonstrated a sense of urgency for the causes of freedom, unity, and development.
