NIPDB and Oranjemund sign MoU

The Namibia Investment and Promotion Development Board (NIPDB) and OMDis Town Transform Agency have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to foster the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises at the former mining town of Oranjemund and across the ||Kharas Region.

OMDis Town Transform Agency is a Section 21 Company, and its sole purpose is to accelerate the transformation of the former diamond mining town of Oranjemund through economic diversification.

The company had received seed funding from the mining giant Namdeb.

Foreign investors have been urged to approach the Namibian government if they have specific incentives they want to be considered before investing in Namibia.

This was said by the Chief Executive Officer of the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), Nangula Uaandja, at the ‘Invest in Namibia’ session at the Russia-Africa Summit in St. Petersburg.

Namibia is promoting tourism, logistics, energy, and agriculture at the 2nd Russia-Africa Summit as key sectors to attract and retain investments and partnerships.

A group of business personalities from India are in Namibia to explore investment opportunities.

The group of investors arrived in the country on Wednesday at the invitation of the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB).

Their businesses specialise in various sectors such as water, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, fisheries, and aquatic resources, as well as other health sector products.

NIPDB CEO and Chairperson Nangula Uaandja welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for their prompt and positive response to the invitation.

Female entrepreneurs successfully graduate from "She ReBuilds the World" program

Businesswomen from Namibia, Zambia, and Latvia have been awarded certificates after completing an entrepreneurship programme.

The programme, conducted under the theme "She Rebuilds the World," aimed to empower and support women in their entrepreneurial endeavours.

The four-month online programme was attended by new and aspiring female entrepreneurs and facilitated by Riga Business School.

Uaandja says the country has a lot to offer in terms of agriculture, mining and energy, oil and gas.

NIPDB finalizing MoU with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre

The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) is finalizing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre.

The two met on the sidelines of the 53rd General Assembly of the just-ended World Trade Centres Association in Accra, Ghana.

The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre is the West African nation's foremost investment attraction and promotion agency under the Office of the President. 

The MoU aims to strengthen the role of Investment Promotion Agencies in facilitating investments and trade on the continent.

NIPDB and Bank Windhoek hold SME finance symposium

The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) and Bank Windhoek held an SME finance symposium to engage small and medium enterprises on how to acquire finances for their businesses.

The engagement also aimed to equip existing small and medium enterprises with the knowledge to succeed in acquiring loans from Bank Windhoek.

Entrepreneurs were urged to first open a bank account as an SME, obtain a tax certificate, register a business, and raise capital when starting a business.

Namibia's journey to producing commercial oil at beginning stages- Shino

Namibia still has a journey of at least four years before it is expected to produce its first commercial oil, from reserves discovered in the Kavango Basin.

The Petroleum Commissioner in the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Maggie Shino suggested this at the second edition of the Namibia University of Science and Technology's lecture series on petroleum activities in Namibia.

Shino says additional drilling will start as soon as next month and results of tests into commercial viability are expected within months.
