The Katima Mulilo Town Council has begun relocating residents affected by heavy rains from the Dairy Location to the Ngweze Community Hall.

The Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, has raised concerns about financial mismanagement and unfair practices within the Katima Mulilo Town Council.

He cited the auditor's report, which highlighted irregularities in tenders, land allocation, and service delivery.

The Katima Mulilo Town Council has accused the Minister of Urban and Rural Development of fostering tribal division and spreading misinformation.

Individual councillors involved in the Katima Mulilo Town Council Land for Vehicle programme will be held responsible for the legal costs in case companies that participated in the project decide to sue the government through the Town Council.

The Katima Mulilo Town Council has started with the realignment of plots at the Dairy Settlement as part of the formalisation of the residential area. 

The formalisation process and mapping of the settlement started last year, and 1,206 people already received plots. 

The Katima Mulilo Town Council and MTC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which will see the council provide its residents with free public Wi-Fi.

The Road Fund Administration and Roads Authority say they are determined to ensure that the Katima Mulilo roads and national roads leading to neighboring countries are rehabilitated to the required standard.

The two entities signed a cooperation agreement with municipalities and town councils recently.

The campaign, known as "Operation Thunder", is a joint venture between the Katima Mulilo Town Council, the Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA), the police, the Walvisbay Corridor Group and the Roads Authority.

Prime Minister, Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, held a closed-door meeting with representatives of the Zambezi Regional Council, the Katima Mulilo Town Council and the Bukalo Village Council at Katima Mulilo on Friday.

Members of the Green Valley House Owners Concerned Group marched to the offices of the Katima Mulilo Town Council to protest the monthly deductions on their houses that are not yet completed.
