Hardap Governor highlights progress despite water challenge

The Governor of the Hardap Region, Salomon April, has described the development in his region as slow but noticeable.

The Hardap Region, like many other parts of the south, is facing water scarcity due to prolonged droughts, increasing water demand, and the impact of climate change. 

Hardap Dam Resort's occupancy drop due to low dam levels

The Hardap Dam Resort near Mariental, which offers a range of water activities, has seen a drop in the occupancy rate due to the low Hardap Dam water levels.
 
This was revealed by the Public Relations Officer of Namibia Wildlife Resort, Nelson Ashipala.

The 2023 National Fish Consumption Survey indicates that the Hardap Region remains one of the leading meat-consuming regions in Namibia, with fish consumption still seen as a luxury. 

Former Education Minister Hanse-Himarwa buried

Former Minister of Education, Arts, and Culture Katrina Hanse-Himarwa was laid to rest in Mariental this morning. 

The funeral was attended by President Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and other senior government officials. 

Hardap Dam water levels show minimal improvement despite recent rainfall

Despite some rainfall in its catchment area, the water level of the Hardap Dam has not significantly improved.

Dawie De Klerk, Chairperson of the Hardap Irrigation Farmers Association, reports that the dam has received only 0.7% water inflow following the rains.
