The town of Omuthiya in the Oshikoto Region is facing a serious water crisis, with many residents experiencing days, or even a week, without any water.

Henock Simon, a local resident, shared his frustrations, saying he has never seen water shortages like this before. 

The Namibia Qualification Authority (NQA) recently hosted a stakeholder information session at Omuthiya in the Oshikoto Region.

The NQA used the platform to educate stakeholders on its mandate and qualification standards.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform, Anna Shiweda, stated that the water crisis being experienced in the northern-central regions has been partially resolved.

The National Housing Enterprise (NHE) is currently constructing 65 houses at Gobabis, 50 at Omuthiya, 70 at Okahao, 33 at Tsandi, and 24 at Ondangwa.

The houses will be constructed predominantly through phase 2 of the NHE’s turnkey construction model (RFP) and are expected to cost N$75 million.
