The Fransfontein community has revived horticulture production through a 16-hectare community garden now under full production.

The Katima Mulilo Correctional Facility has taken a major step towards agricultural self-sufficiency with the installation of a modern centre pivot irrigation and reticulation system at its old Wenela farm.

A farmer based in the Kavango West Region is expanding his gardening project to boost food production and create jobs in the community.

Among the projects supported by the Kavango West Regional Council is Nanzamba Mixed Farming at Singuruve village in the Ncuncuni Constituency. 

Otjozondjupa Governor John ||Khamuseb has said his region will focus on reviving food security to feed not only the region but also Namibia.

He said this when delivering the maiden State of the Region address in Otjiwarongo today.

Prime Minister Saara-Kuugongelwa-Amadhila has encouraged crop farmers to diversify food production to enhance the resilience of the country's food systems.

The Premier urged for the diversification of food products following her visit to the Harambee Irrigation Project near Mariental in Hardap Region.

A member of the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) in the National Assembly is calling for a subsidy to support farmers to produce more food for the country and for their own household consumption.
