A new volume in the Voices of Liberation series has been launched, focusing on the life of Andimba Toivo ya Toivo and his role in Namibia's liberation struggle.

Former political prisoners from Namibia and South Africa who were sentenced at Robben Island gathered for a reunion at the world heritage site on Saturday. 

Today marks an important event for the Anglican Church in Namibia as St Mary’s in Odibo celebrates its 100-year anniversary. The event honours ten decades of spiritual guidance, education, and cultural heritage that helped shape the lives of countless Namibians.

The Robben Island Museum is set to unveil a life-size statue of the late liberation icon Andimba Toivo ya Toivo at the reunion of former prisoners on September 27 in South Africa.

The Andimba Toivo ya Toivo Secondary School scooped the Oshana Regional Library Annual Debate Championship award this weekend.

In second place and third, respectively, were the Reverend Juuso Shikongo Secondary School and Dr. Abraham Iiyambo SS, while Nehale Secondary School was placed fourth. 

Vice-President Nangolo Mbumba unveiled a statue in honour of the late liberation struggle stalwart, Andimba Toivo Ya Toivo, at Ondangwa in the Oshana Region.

Mbumba described the late Ya Toivo as a great freedom fighter, statesman, and a true, patriotic Namibian.
