Sale of alcohol prohibited on Sunday

UPDATE | Alcohol sales are strictly prohibited this Sunday.

The Police Spokesperson and Deputy Commissioner, Kauna Shikwambi, has issued a clear directive that all liquor outlets must remain closed. 

On Saturday, however, these outlets may operate but must strictly adhere to the conditions stipulated in their liquor licences.

Keetmanshoop residents air complains to Lieutenant-General Joseph Shikongo

Residents in Keetmanshoop raised concerns about alleged police brutality and, at times, slow police response during a meeting with Police Inspector General, Lieutenant-General Joseph Shikongo.

At the meeting, residents were given the opportunity to raise their concerns.

Community members say noise pollution, the mushrooming of shebeens, alcohol and drug abuse by young people, and the mugging of cell phones are also worrisome in the southern town.
