Journalists are urged to protect their online communications and information from the growing threats brought on by the digital age.

These were the sentiments shared by journalists attending a workshop titled "Investigative Journalism in the Digital Age" underway in Windhoek.

Although technology has created major shifts in how journalism is practised nowadays, enhancing freedom of expression, access to information, and the promotion of accountability and transparency is still key.

Twenty young people participated in a one-day workshop at Keetmanshoop in the ||Kharas Region with a focus on mainstream politics and youth involvement in the democratic process.

The workshop is facilitated by Queen Pieter, a youth activist who says that the participation of young people in mainstream politics strengthens democracy and the rule of law.

She says that voter apathy among young people creates the impression that young people are not interested in politics and discussions of development.

The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Natural Resources, Tjekero Tweya, is of the view that if the existing laws passed in parliament are deemed inadequate, it is necessary to enhance and strengthen them.

Tweya also emphasised the importance of engaging in a comprehensive, honest, and constructive dialogue about the management of natural resources in Namibia.

Tweya made these remarks during the opening of a six-day workshop focusing on the mining and energy sectors.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform (MAWLR), in collaboration with the Centre for Coordination of Agriculture Research and Development (CCARDESA), embarked on a three-day training workshop on the Malabo Declaration Commitments on Accelerated Agricultural Growth and Transformation for Shared Prosperity and Improved Livelihoods and Knowledge Management.

The Deputy Inspector General for Administration at the Namibian Police (NamPol), Major General Anna-Marie Nainda, says it is important that Namibia understands the need for gender mainstreaming, as women and men have different experiences, needs, and priorities.

She says failure to recognize and address these differences may lead to inequalities.

Nainda was speaking during the two-day Gender Mainstreaming Workshop being held at Swakopmund.

Public Relations and Regional Community Affairs Officers are expected to maintain and solicit public trust at all times through daily interactions.

Thirty officials from all the country's 14 regions, underwent a four-day workshop that was aimed at enhancing their competencies and abilities.
 
Legal and ethics, freedom of expression, access to information, the safety of journalists, the importance of TV/Radio, interviews as well as handling of video footage and photography were some of the topics covered during the workshop.
