Labour Ministry seeks solution to Eagle Night Watch dispute

The Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations, and Employment Creation held a meeting between Eagle Night Watch employees and their employer to find a solution to the labour dispute.

Workers at the company, which is a subcontractor at the Husab Uranium Mine, have accused the company of not complying with an affirmative action report submitted to the Employment Equity Commission.

The Security Association of Namibia still awaiting wage negotiation feedback

The Security Association of Namibia (SAN) says it is in continuous minimum wage negotiations with the Namibian government and is still awaiting feedback from the Wage Commission under the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation. Therefore, it has once again distanced itself from the ongoing strike at G4S Security.

In a statement, SAN president Dhiginina Uuataapama labelled the actions by the G4S employees as illegal and unconstitutional.

Otjikoto B2Gold Mine confirms suspension of employees

The Otjikoto B2Gold Mine, situated outside Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa Region, on Tuesday, confirmed the suspension of its more than 160 workers, who allegedly took part in an illegal work stoppage at the mine. 

In a media statement issued Tuesday afternoon to Nampa, Otjikoto B2Gold Mine stated that the dispute is about the validity of the continuous operations permit that it renewed with the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation in January 2021. 

Labour ministry doing all it can to resolve labour disputes at B2Gold Namibia

Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation Minister Utoni Nujoma say his Ministry is doing all it can to resolve a labour dispute at the B2Gold Namibia mine.

Delivering a ministerial statement in the National Assembly on Tuesday, Nujoma stressed that tripartite talks between the Ministry, the Mineworkers' Union (MUN) and the workers have already been held and more negotiations will continue to find a lasting solution to the impasse.
