In honour of the heroes of the liberation struggle, Namibia reflects not only on the victories on the battlefield but also on the freedoms and rights being enjoyed today.

This is at the backdrop of this year's Heroes Day that will be commemorated in the Zambezi Region.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah paid tribute to the late former Chief of the Namibian Defence Force, Solomon Hawala, saying his legacy will forever be etched in the annals of Namibia’s history, serving as a constant reminder of the sacrifices made for freedom. 

Hawala died on Monday, aged 89.
