Rundu, Ruacana partner up in various areas

Rundu and Ruacana have agreed to partner up in various areas of cooperation.

This comes after the two town councils renewed their cooperation through a memorandum of understanding at Rundu.

The two town councils agreed to address emerging issues, promote sustainable development, and create a conducive environment for investment and innovation.

The mayor of Ruacana, Linda Mbwale, pointed out some areas for cooperation.

Namport and Port of Antwerp-Bruges sign MoU

The Namibian Port Authority (Namport), Cleanergy Solutions Namibia, and the Port of Antwerp-Bruges signed a memorandum of understanding to develop the first-ever hydrogen-powered vessel to operate in Namibian waters.

Additionally, Namport and the port of Antwerp-Bruges signed an agreement focusing on the development of the north port of Walvis Bay.

Namibia is set up to play a key role in the global energy transition, with a pioneering position in renewable energy, and natural resources, given its strategic geographical position. 

MEFT signs MoU with Belgium's Lignaverda Reforestation Cooperation Project

The Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Belgium's Lignaverda Reforestation Cooperation Project.

The Lignaverda Reforestation Cooperation Project is involved in reforesting semi-arid areas at risk of land degradation and desertification.

Its approach includes the active involvement of communities in sustainable forest management practices to coordinate forest protection and valorisation of grass, crops, and non-timber forest products.

NBC/NFA Sign Memorandum of Understanding

The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) and the Namibia Football Association (NFA) have officially inked a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday, aimed at collaborating to elevate football promotion in Namibia.

This partnership entails developing content for the NFA's premier leagues to elevate corporate branding, media coverage, and societal influence. Additionally, the NBC will offer media coverage of NFA events across various platforms and secure broadcasting rights for NFA matches.

NamRA, BIPA sign MoU

RTC signs MoU with Namibian Housing Acting Group to construct affordable housing

The Rundu Town Council signed a memorandum of agreement (MoU) with the Namibian Housing Acting Group to construct affordable housing for low-income earners.

The MoU was signed at the Sikanduko informal settlement at Rundu.

The Rundu Town Council and the Namibian Housing Action Group entered into an agreement in 2018 for the formalisation of the Sikanduko informal settlement.

The Mayor of Rundu, Gabriel Kanyanga, stated that the formalisation aims to uplift the livelihood and living conditions of the residents of the town through the provision of land tenure.

Namibia Assumes Chairmanship of MOU in Sport with Botswana

Namibia has officially taken over the rotating chairmanship of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in sport with Botswana for the next two years.

The handover ceremony took place in Gaborone, Botswana earlier this week, marking the beginning of Namibia's leadership in this cooperative agreement.

The MOU, signed in 2021, serves as a collaboration framework between the national sport commissions of Namibia and Botswana, focusing on sport development.

Namibia, Botswana sign MoU

The Communications Regulatory Authorities of Namibia (CRAN) and that of Botswana signed a memorandum of understanding at Swakopmund on Thursday.

The MoU will allow the countries' authorities to collaborate on matters related to cybersecurity, data protection, and roaming data, among others.

The ministers of information of the two sister countries started working on this collaboration about three months ago when ICT Minister Dr. Peya Mushelenga visited Botswana.

Omaheke RC and Batswana Ba Namibia TA sign MoU

The Omaheke Regional Council and the Batswana Ba Namibia Traditional Authority have signed an agreement to manage and maintain a cattle project in the community of the Okorukambe Constituency of the Omaheke Region.

Five years ago, the community received 43 cows and two bulls for the purpose of community development-related affairs.

Kgosi Andrew Kgosiemang of the Batswana Ba Namibia Traditional Authority states that the signed agreement will help ensure the smooth operation of the cattle project, with the primary objective of improving the livelihoods of the community.
