The Keetmanshoop Town Council has engaged the Rosh Pinah mine management to strengthen skills development collaboration, paving a way for a potential Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). 

The parties held the engagement in Rosh Pinah.  

Officials from Keetmanshoop Vocational Training Centre (KVTC) and the Namibia Institute of Mining and Technology (NIMT) southern campus also participated in the engagement. 

The partnership aims to provide an important platform for strengthening technical and vocational education and training, enhancing employability, and supporting sustainable economic transformation.

Mayor of Keetmanshoop Emrico Blaauw explained, "During this meeting we gave our expectations. Of course we did not want this only to be lip service, just sitting and talking and nothing coming out of it. We therefore gave each other timelines to say when to report back." And preparing a draft MoU. The parties sit and discuss the draft, especially the administrators. And then after giving them enough time to formalise a working document we will come back." 

"We were able to agree there is an opportunity. We already contribute, or we already have a standing relationship with vocational centres and training centres for our own recruitment of personnel either for apprenticeships or job opportunities. We also agree there is a bigger opportunity to tap in by creating this communication channel and Memorandum of Understanding that can lead the partnership. So, we have better interchange of information that allows for better planning to allow for commitment to be made," added General Manager at Rosh Pinah Mine, Francisco Ballesteros.
